Press Release - CD - Info
Artist: Pete Leonard
Title: When The Grass Turns Blue
Release date: 4th February 2008
Format: CD only

Pete Leonard was raised in South Wiltshire, the land of the flying saucers. At just 20 years of age he has a variety of musical projects behind him including fronting local band Crippled Rook www.myspace.com/crippledrook. Destined to be an individual Pete is passionate about all kinds of musical genres stating The Doors, Squarepusher & Tunng amongst his inspirations. Meanwhile in his spare moments Pete can often be found indulging in his passion for discovering and then unlocking, the secrets of exotic musical instruments.

Pete has come up with this CD taster, his first solo recording, a selection of acoustic, rhythm driven Blues tracks. Reflecting on his live experiences over the past 6 months Pete shows his potential with a thought provoking and original sound. Blending a range of guitar styles and vocals sprinkled with subtle reflective atmospheres Pete takes that trusty old sound on a modern day trip.

After playing in many venues and numerous festivals around the south of the country and in London Pete is gaining a considerable fan-base, some of whom, claim the artist "seem to understand the songs more than I do". Its what, you might say, one might listen to if the Grass Turns Blue…

Comment:
"It wouldn't be a Blues in London Night though without a bit of a challenge towards what blues could mean in the 21st century, Pete Leonard does just that. His playing draws recognisably on blues forms but works a deconstruction on them, his song writing is refreshingly idiosyncratic and cliché free".
